Installation of overhead electrification to accommodate new train stock in Southern England required two major road bridges to be lifted to insert spacers to increase their height (track clearance).

Jacking of 1,720 tonne road bridge to increase clearance over railway track for installation of over rail electrification.

Lift height 500mm total weight 1,720 tonnes lifted in three 175mm lifting operations over 2 days (per deck) lifting carried out over live railway.

A second bridge weighing 1,860 tonnes (not pictured) underwent a similar operation.
